Bonita Springs Elite Cabinets makes doors and drawer fronts to size. The door is roughly seventy percent of what anyone sees in a kitchen, which is why two kitchens with identical boxes can feel completely different. It is also the cheapest way to change a room when the boxes behind it are sound.
Open the cabinet under your sink and look at the bottom panel and the back corners. If they are solid, dry and square, the boxes are fine and new doors will transform the kitchen for a fraction of a replacement.
If the panel is swollen, soft or coming apart, that is particleboard that has taken water, and new doors on failing boxes is money spent twice. Our cabinet resurfacing page covers where that line falls.
A single flat face, no frame, no profile. The defining modern door. It wipes clean in one pass and puts all the interest on the finish. The catch is that slab doors hide nothing, so a warped door or an uneven reveal shows immediately. They demand better making and better installation than any other style.
A flat center panel in a square edged frame. It has been the default for fifteen years because it sits comfortably between modern and traditional. The honest downside is the inside corner where panel meets frame, which collects grease near a cooktop. A narrower rail, two inches rather than two and a half, reads noticeably more contemporary.
A center panel that steps forward with a routed profile. Suits arched openings and the Mediterranean influenced architecture common around here. More profile means more surfaces to wipe and a heavier look in a small room.
Not a face style but a mounting method, with the door sitting flush inside the frame. Beautiful and the most expensive by a distance, because every gap has to be consistent. Inset doors also move with humidity, which matters in a coastal home that runs the air conditioning unevenly or sits empty part of the year.
Solid wood panels expand and contract with moisture. In a floating panel design, which shaker and raised panel both are, that movement is designed in and harmless, though on a stained door a thin unstained line can appear at the panel edge in the dry season.
Painted MDF center panels do not move, which is why most painted shaker doors use them. For a seasonal home or a rental, an engineered core is the more forgiving choice throughout.
Thermofoil, the wrapped vinyl film on inexpensive white doors, releases in heat and humidity. Once the film starts lifting near a cooktop or a dishwasher, no repair holds. We do not recommend it here.
A catalyzed finish resists moisture far better than a standard lacquer, and we spray all six faces including the backs and the edges. An unfinished door edge is where moisture enters.
Painted costs more than stained in most cases because it takes more preparation and more coats. A satin or matte sheen hides fingerprints better than gloss, which shows everything in bright coastal light.
Paint matches reliably. Stain on new wood beside ten year old wood will differ, because the old wood has ambered and the new has not. If only part of a kitchen is being redone, a deliberate contrast usually looks better than a near miss.
Where doors must match across a whole room, we make them in one batch from matched material rather than ordering in stages.
Stainless or solid brass. Plated zinc pulls near salt air pit and discolour within a few years, and they are the first thing that looks tired on an otherwise good kitchen.
Scale matters more than style. A slim bar pull suits a slab door. A heavy cup pull on a slab door looks borrowed from another kitchen.
Doors are made to the opening, not to the old door, because old doors warp and old boxes settle. We measure every opening individually rather than assuming they match, which in an older kitchen they often do not.
Measuring takes an hour or two. Doors are made off site over several weeks depending on finish. Fitting is usually a day for a standard kitchen, with hinge adjustment at the end so every door lines up. The kitchen stays usable throughout, since the boxes never leave.
Yes, if the boxes are sound and square. It is the cheapest way to change a kitchen's appearance. It does not fix a bad layout.
Slab, clearly. One flat surface with no corners. A satin finish hides marks better than gloss.
Usually we supply new hinges, because hinge boring must match the new door and old hinges are often worn.
They hold up better than most trends because the contrast is anchored to an island. Keeping the perimeter neutral makes the island easy to change later.
Yes. Making to size is the point, and it is where stock doors force you into fillers and wasted space.
Send a photo of the kitchen and a photo of the inside of the sink cabinet. Those two tell us whether doors alone will do it.
Samples on a screen and samples in your kitchen are different things, particularly here. We will bring doors to you. Call (239) 366-4056.
